Childcare Fees & Funding Structure

We provide high-quality childcare from 8:00am to 6:00pm (10-hour day), Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year.

At Norbury Hill Cubs, we believe in providing exceptional care without hidden costs. Our fees include:

  • NELI (Nuffield Early Language Intervention) - targeted language support programme

All government-funded hours are provided completely FREE of charge. There are no top-up fees, mandatory charges, or hidden costs for accessing your funded entitlement.

  • 15 hours for eligible 2-year-olds
  • 15 hours for 3 & 4-year-olds
  • 30 hours for eligible 3 & 4-year-olds
  • 9 months+ funded hours (from eligible age)

Funded hours are stretched across 52 weeks to provide year-round consistency for your family.

For children not yet accessing funding, or for additional hours beyond your funded entitlement:

  • Full Day (8:00am - 6:00pm): £102.50 per day
  • Half Day (8:00am - 1:00pm OR 1:00pm - 6:00pm): £78.00 per day
  • Additional Paid Hours: £12.43 per hour
  • Early Morning Drop-Off (7:30am - 8:00am): £12.50

EXAMPLE 1: 15-Hour Funding (3 days per week)
Time: 08:00 - 13:00 = 5 hours per day

Per Day Breakdown:

  • 08:00 - 13:00 (5 hours) - FREE (Government funded) = £0.00
  • 13:00 - 18:00 (S hours) - You pay at £12.43/hour = £62.15

TOTAL per day = £62.15

Weekly Cost (3 days): £186.45

Security Deposit (2 weeks of non-funded hours): £372.90


EXAMPLE 2: 30-Hour Funding (4 days per week)
Time: 08:00 - 13:36 = 5.6 hours per day

Per Day Breakdown:

  • 08:00 - 13:36 (5.6 hours) - FREE (Government funded) = £0.00
  • 13:36 - 18:00 (4.4 hours) - You pay at £12.43/hour = £54.70

TOTAL per day = £54.70

Weekly Cost (4 days): £218.80

Security Deposit (2 weeks of non-funded hours): £437.60

We DO NOT charge:

  • Top-up fees on funded hours
  • Registration fees for funded places
  • Mandatory extras or consumables for funded hours
  • Compulsory activity fees

We offer optional enrichment classes that you may choose to purchase. These are completely voluntary and children who do not participate receive full EYFS provision:

  • Music class (with Mr Ed Music Man): £7.25 per class
  • Dance class (with Diddi Dance): £7.00 per class
  • Yoga class (with Beam Academy): £7.00 per class

These classes are:

  • Completely optional and voluntary
  • Paid directly to external teachers
  • NHC makes no profit from these classes
  • Not a condition of accessing funded hours

Registration Fee (one-time): £150

Required when enrolling your child at Norbury Hill Cubs (non-refundable).

Holding Deposit: £100

To secure your child's place. This reserves your space until your start date and is deducted from your first month's fees.

Security Deposit (Non-Funded Hours Only): 2 weeks equivalent

We require a security deposit equivalent to 2 weeks of your non-funded hours as protection against non-payment. This deposit is:

  • Held throughout your contract period
  • Returned in full when your contract ends (subject to account being in good standing)
  • Only applicable to the non-funded portion of your fees

IMPORTANT: In accordance with DfE statutory guidance, we cannot take deposits against funded hours, only the portion you pay for.

In line with Department for Education guidelines (statutory guidance February 2025), your invoice clearly shows these 5 separate categories:

  1. Free entitlement hours - £0.00
  2. Additional private paid hours - itemised with hourly rates
  3. Food charges - £0.00 (all meals included)
  4. Consumables - £0.00 (all included)
  5. Activities - Optional classes only (if chosen)

This transparency ensures you always know exactly what you're paying for.

We offer two complimentary settling-in sessions before your child officially starts:

Session 1 - Half Hour Visit (30 minutes)

Drop off at 9:30am (after breakfast) and collect at 10:00am. This gentle first visit allows your child to explore our spaces and meet their key workers.

Session 2 - Half Day Visit (2.5 hours)

Drop off at 9:30am and collect at 12:00pm (midday). This longer session helps your child experience more of our daily routines and build connections with staff and other children.

What to bring for settling sessions:

  • A bag of spare clothes
  • Any milk your child requires
  • Nappies, wipes, and creams

Our daily schedule includes:

  • Breakfast: 8:00-9:00am (children should have breakfast at home before drop-off)
  • Mid-morning fruit and milk: 10:00am
  • Lunch: 12:00pm
  • Tea: 4:00pm

We cater for all dietary requirements and always offer alternatives. If your child has specific dietary needs, please let us know.

We use BabysDays to track your child's development and share daily updates. You'll receive:

  • Daily photos and observations
  • Learning journey updates
  • Weekly menus
  • Direct messaging with staff

Parents receive individual logins to access all information about their child's progress.

We take a two-week break during Christmas and New Year, following Croydon term dates.
Fees continue during this period to maintain your child's place.
